Concrete Slab Crack Sealing
Concrete Crack Sealing – Required Machinery & Material:
1- Marathon Concrete router and / or hand grinder or cutter for modifications and opening the cracks.
2- Air compressor or wind blower and Hot Air Lance (HAL) for cleaning and possibly heating (if humidity is detected and needed) using gas cylinder.
3- Marathon Rubberized oil jacketed Kettle for sealant application by cones and specialized nozzle. Material heating should be indirect through Thermal Oil. Kettle shall be equipped with continues agitation and thermostat.
4- Approved Rubberized Hot Applied Sealant per attached specifications, Black colour.
5- Hand tools and Mastic tape as needed.
Procedure:
1- Routing and/or grinding of the existing crack to create a reservoir approx. 5 mm more than the proportional width of the crack for the sealant settlement to ensure sealant won’t pop out of the crack after application. Once opened, the area and inside shall be cleaned thoroughly by either manually such as normal or metal brush, sweeping, or compressed air.
2- Application of sealant to the cleaned opened crack, 2 mm lower than the concrete surface. The sealant will be applied at approx. 180 C through Oil jacketed kettle equipped with constant agitator and thermometer.
